ReviewedSwitzerland is a country of many faces! People from all over the world make this neutral land home. Even though it has four official languages and a diverse population, Switzerland’s culture has deep roots and memorable customs. Yodel from the top of the Alps and dip into cheese-filled fondue pots while turning the pages of this Country Profiles title!
'Each informational text in the Country Profiles series presents an overview of the geography, cultural heritage, and colonial history of a country. These short, fourth-grade level readers, were published in 2021 and thus offer a culturally relevant text set for school and classroom libraries. Each text is organized using the same short chapter titles like “location,” “landscape and climate,” and “communities,” which would help educators facilitate independent and group research assignments or guided reading notes. The factual information of each chapter is enhanced through colorful photographs, tables, and figures, and texts are written in engaging and student-friendly language. This text set would offer students a credible and readable informational source for independent reading in the social studies subject areas.', Lisa Ortmann, Ph.D; Literacy Education Professor, Gustavus Adolphus College
