Honduran White Bats is part of Jump!’s Bat Buddies series.
'Honduran white bats are strange, tiny mammals that hide from predators by day by huddling together in the folds of gigantic rainforest leaves. At night, these snub-nosed cotton balls fly out and feed on figs and other fruit. The short sentences, roughly three per spread, describe a day in the bat’s life and explain how its white fur acts as camouflage. Plenty of text features introduce youngsters to the nonfiction format, including a table of contents, labeled illustrations, a range map, a picture glossary, and an index. The brief chapters are filled with well-chosen, mostly full- page stock photos that show close-ups of the bats in a variety of settings. This Bat Buddies series (6 titles) selection is well-suited for beginning readers, classroom units on animals, and kids fascinated by unusual creatures.', Miriam Aronin, Booklist
