Review
'In these six titles students are introduced to different landforms. Each title includes a table of contents, glossary, index, list of books and websites to learn more about the landform. These titles are a great resource for beginning research skills. The pictures are very inviting and colorful. The text is packed with a lot of information without being too long for beginning researchers. Each title has a section to cover what the specific landform is, plants and animals that can be found in the landform, and people and the landform. There is also at least one illustration in each title that provides information for the most famous type of landform being discussed in the book. For example, Pantanal is famous for being the largest freshwater wetland in the world. A map is provided showing where Pantanal is located, the size is listed and a picture of Pantanal is provided. The definitions are not provided for the vocabulary words in the text, but students have to look the words up in the glossary to determine the meaning. Each title provides between 11 and 13 vocabulary words that are included in the glossary. Pictures are provided of the plants and animals that are discussed in the like named section. Each title describes how people use the landform, how they affect it and how they can protect it. VERDICT A beautiful well written series on landforms that would be great for beginning readers and researchers.', Ambra, Smith-Library Media Specialist, Choctaw Elementary School
