'This Blastoff! Beginner Series of 6 titles is written for a PreK-2 audience. Large, realistic photos of baby animals with simple titles and bright colors on the covers are perfect to attract young readers! Although simply written, the books follow the traditional nonfiction format of a Table of Contents in the front, and Basic Facts with supporting photos, a Glossary and an Index in the back. An extra bonus is a list of sight words from the book that is noted on a beginning page. Each page in the book includes one or 2 sentences written in large text with beautiful, realistic photos of adorable animals. Important vocabulary words are highlighted on each page with an arrow pointing to a corresponding photo. I would highly recommend this series as a great introduction to nonfiction books.', Cheryl Kellen, Librarian, Parkers Prairie Public Schools,'In this series, the reader learns about specific baby animals in each book. Each book begins with photographs and details of the specific baby animal. The books then detail the stages of the animal's life. Each book ends with facts about each baby animal. The facts show photographs of the baby animal with labels describing the photographs. The photographs of the animals are engaging, beautiful, and show the animals in their natural environment. These books are great for engaging children in reading and creates a love for animals. These non-fiction books include numerous non-fiction text features to support the reader in understanding the important facts in the book. Some non-fiction text features included in each book are engaging photographs, a table of contents, labels, headings, bold-faced words, a picture glossary, and an index. Before the table of contents, each book also has a list of sight words that are found in each book (i.e. the, are, look, when, with, go, etc.). These books are not only ‘ too cute’ but also engaging and fun!', Charity Nadrozny, 2nd Grade Teacher, Illinois, Educator Review
