Librarian Review of Who is Cuter?

The Who Is Cuter? series is a delightful set of nonfiction titles designed especially for beginning readers. Each book spotlights a pair of baby animals, highlighting their most adorable features, playful behaviors, and unique traits. Along the way, readers discover fun facts about what squirrels eat and where they are most often seen. What makes this series especially engaging is its interactive structure. After introducing each animal with simple, leveled sentences and brilliant, colorful photos, the books invite readers to compare and contrast what they’ve learned.

Baby Chipmunk or Baby Skunk? lovingly compares the two adorable animals and points out the differences in their playtime: baby skunks (kits) at night and baby chipmunks (pups) during the day. The children will love comparing the baby animals’ different features such as fluffy and skinny tails. Baby Zebra or Baby Giraffe? compares the unique animal prints of the baby giraffes (calves) and zebras (foals) and even the sounds they make. Foals bray and bark and calves can even moo like cows! Helpful features such as fun infographics with labels, a picture glossary, and bolded vocabulary words provide strong support for early literacy. The final page of each book adds an extra layer of fun, encouraging readers to cast their vote on which baby animal they think is cuter.

Perfect for classrooms, libraries, or at-home reading, the Who Is Cuter? series combines science learning with a playful twist. Young readers will come away with new animal knowledge while also practicing early comprehension skills—all while enjoying some of nature’s cutest creatures.
