About FlutterBee Education Group

Our History

In 2005, John Martin, who has always had a passion for learning and literacy founded the first of our publishers, Bellwether Media. Bellwether’s title list quickly grew into the hundreds, always with a focus on improving literacy and sparking the imagination of children who require more excitement than the average reader.

As Bellwether continued to grow, in 2012 John and his business partner, Gabe Kaufman decided to lay the foundation for our second publisher, Jump! Jump! was also designed to improve literacy and instill a lifelong lover for learning, but through curriculum – aligned books that combine vibrant colors, captivating design, high-interest topics, and carefully leveled text to draw readers into the subject and encourage reading success.

Bearport Publishing was then acquired by John and Gabe and brought to Minneapolis to expand on titles that get kids excited about reading, even if they are struggling or reluctant readers. With an emphasis on topics that appeal to young readers, such as animals, sports heroes, and scary places, Bearport titles pay close attention to text length, vocabulary, and picture-text match. Bold photographs and limited text on each page make these titles less intimidating and more inviting to kids.

Rounding out our four publishers, Kaleidoscope was founded in 2018 to be an extension of Bellwether Media’s books to help young readers develop information literacy skills that equip them to deal with the realities of our new information age.

With over 750 unique book titles and a wide variety of series and imprints from our four publishers, we wanted to create a streamlined shopping experience for all of our customers, so FlutterBee Education Group was born.
