Booklist Review for My Busy Day

Preschoolers will delight in the busy pages of this detailed look at the common activities and objects that fill a child’s day. Broken into 13 categories, the book spans from yawning awake to getting a good-night kiss, with each receiving a two-page assortment of labeled photos. All the expected stops are there—getting dressed, having breakfast, going to school, etc.—but so are valuable topics like “Things We Do and Feel” (helping, sharing, being shy, laughing) and the sports-themed “On the Move!” The illustrations do an excellent job of integrating diversity, and the children depicted are a universally cheery lot. Adults can turn this book into a more interactive learning experience by referring to the “Tips and Ideas” and activities pages. A well-designed, early literacy tool from the First Words and Pictures series.
