School Library Journal Review for ¡Que Desastre!
Floods, earthquakes, tornadoes, tsunamis, blizzards, and hurricanes are covered in these brief, informative books. Clear texts and appropriate pictures explain how these natural disasters begin, the damage they leave behind, and how to best prepare for them. Many of the facts presented here will astound readers; for instance, a tsunami can travel up to 600 miles per hour, and tornado winds are faster than those of any other storm. Images effectively complement the subjects being described, and each book includes useful back matter. The layout and crisp texts do a good job of introducing the subjects to young readers and provide enough information to get children interested in seeking out more detailed works. VERDICT: Solid options for kids who are not yet ready for Gail Gibbons or Seymour Simon.
