Rainbow - Reviewed by Booklist

From the Amazing Sights in the Sky series (6 books), this brightly illustrated volume clearly explains the science behind rainbows. It encourages readers to experiment with the two necessary elements for the phenomenon, light and water, and includes a useful diagram demonstrating light bending in a prism. The text points out that in a single rainbow, the colors appear in a set order, which is reversed in the outer arc of a double rainbow. An appended page offers directions for making a rainbow indoors. The book’s relatively short sentences and large type indicate beginning readers, while the pictures, information, and suggested activities will have appeal for preschoolers as well. The eye-catching illustrations include photos of seldom seen fogbows and moonbows, as well as many rainbows. A simple, appealing science book.
