Booklist Review of Animal Feet
In this toe-tally enjoyable entry in the Amazing Animal Parts series (6 titles) of level 1 readers, simple text and vivid photos introduce several different categories of animal feet: webbed (like ducks’), sticky (like some frogs), clawed (like dogs’ paws), and hooved (like horses’).
Each variety gets a four-page chapter that describes its foot’s key features and purpose. For example, claws help a dog dig, and pads on their paws protect the tiny bones in their feet. Hooves cover a horse’s toes “like toenails” and protect the horse’s foot.
Close-up photos and simple infographics reinforce the information about each kind of foot. The back matter rounds out the book with a picture glossary, several sources for more information, and an index.
