More or Less
Kids will enjoy this book’s creepy, crawly pictures as they move through a vampire’s castle, helping the Count count his stuff: snakes in a toilet, dancing rats on the floor, and toads covering coffins, to name a few. Simple rhymes prompt kids to count, compare, and estimate with an emphasis placed on the concepts of less, more, and fewer. The pictures are a bright patchwork of digital illustration and Photoshopped images (sometimes clunky, but with a clarity that will keep the attention of young ones), and the tongue in- cheek approach of presenting a “domestic” vampire adds a dash of humor to the book, keeping well away from the scary side of spooky. This volume in the Spooky Math series is a researched and entertaining introduction to basic math concepts, ideal for young learners and perfect for the back-to-school season.
